Crocodiles and Alligators

Physical Characters
Crocodiles are two reptiles that look much alike. But the Alligator has fatter, shorter jaws, and is smaller then the crocodile who has a long pointed snout. The Crocodile also has a very large tooth sticking up on each side when it closes it's mouth. Alligators tend to have wide, U-shaped, rounded snouts, while crocodiles tend to have longer, more pointed, V-shaped snouts. The fourth tooth on the lower jaw sticks up over the upper lip on crocodiles, so you can see it when their mouths are closed. In alligators, this fourth tooth is covered up. The Crocodile is the largest of all Reptiles.
Food
Both Alligators and Crocodiles are meat- eaters. They love fish, Buffaloes and they even like humans but we try to keep our distance. Baby crocodiles and alligators eat insects and frogs.
They catch prey with their large strong jaws and sharp teeth. They pull their prey under the water until it drowns. Crocodiles and alligators can not chew like we can so they have to tear up their food with their teeth.
Habitat

Crocodiles also have special glands in their tongues that can get rid of excess salt, so they tend to live in saltwater habitats. Alligators have these glands, too, but they don't work as well as the crocodiles', so alligators prefer to live in freshwater habitats.
Both Crocodiles and Alligators are pretty lazy. In the morning, rivers warm up slowly and crocodiles and alligators heat themselves by basking in the sun at the river's edge. At night, the water cools slowly so the Crocodiles and Alligators spend the night in the river to keep warm.
