Description
the manatee is a large gray or brown aquatic mammal, averaging about 3m. long and weighing 500 kilos. they have no hindlimbs, and their forelimbs are modified as flippers. manatee tails are flattened horizontally and rounded. manatees will consume any aquatic vegetation available to them and sometimes even shoreline vegetation.
Threats To
Initial population decreases resulted from overharvesting for meat, oil, and leather. today, heavy mortality occur from accidental collisions with water craft.
