Animal Welfare Information
Researches done across the world on hundreds of farms, ranches and plants, indicate that the most important factor which affects animal's welfare is the attitude of management. Places where animals are treated well have excellent managers; whereas places with poor management, are bound to make their animals suffer due to neglect. Animal welfare is basically the physical and psychological well being of animals. Animal welfare can also be termed as human concern for the ill-treatment of animals and working on their rights. There are various social organizations and activists, who are working for the welfare of animals. There are also various welfare laws and acts passed, across the world to protect animals against ill treatment. Here's the list of organizations working for the welfare of animals:
- Animal Welfare Association: The animal welfare association is an organization, which is a home to most of the orphaned animals. They also assist with medical aids and educate people about animal welfare since 1948. The organization has worked with commitment for the past 50 years towards animals suffering. Every year, almost 9,500 animals receive care from animal welfare association.
They provide a list of services which include:
- Animal sheltering and adoption
- Spay and neutral clinic; which offers low-cost vaccination and sterilization for the animals owned by the public
- Pet assisted therapy; wherein every week, volunteers take pets to visit senior citizens or patients in hospitals and nursing homes. Studies have shown that patients show great improvement in their behavior, after interacting with the pets
- Shelter partnering: AWA coordinates with other shelters and help the animals who are stuffed in overcrowded shelters. This has helped animals to a great extent from unnecessary demise and also voluntary killing of healthy animals by their masters due to shortage of space.
- Apart from this, they also engage in educating humans about animal welfare, and monitor and assess animal needs to design new programs
- Animal Welfare Society: The animal welfare society was conceptualized in 2004. It is recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India, the Ministry of Environment and the Government of India. This organization aims at protecting animals' rights, to provide them with a safe, healthy environment and to prevent suffering, abuse and neglect towards animals. They also provide shelter to stray animals and medical aid to injured animals. The organization works under, Animal Acts (P.C.A. Acts), that is, "The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act", which was passed in 1960. The act laid emphasis on animal welfare, cruelty towards animals and experimentation on animals.
- Animal Welfare Organizations: The animal's welfare organizations are taking various steps towards the cause of animals. It is spread all across India, and they are doing a commendable job as far as animal welfare is concerned. Awareness about this great cause is done by spread own websites.
Apart from this, there are various NGO's working for animal's rights, animal's protection and also their well being. With the amount of exposure that this project is getting, it has become really very easy for people to gather information on animal's welfare.
